And so there are three complete crucibles in Pit 93. In this image they have the company of a complete vessel and, in the background, of two bell beakers (and by a glass of Monte Velho and some ditches of São Pedro do Corval).

0320 - Intencionalidade 2 / Intentionality 2

Uma fossa com vasos depositados, um deles fragmentado por pedras intencionalmente colocadas no seu interior / A pit with vessels deposited, one of them fragmented by stones intentionally putted inside.

Removidas as pedras mais fragmentos cerâmicos apareceram / Removed the stones more shards appeared

E esses fragmentos revelaram pertencer a um campaniforme liso depositado no interior do grande vaso / And those fragments are part of an undecorated bell beaker deposited inside the large vessel

Hoje aconteceram duas coisas novas nos Perdigões
Today two new things happened in Perdigões.

Primeiro começamos a fazer furos geotécnicos para obter carotes em vários fossos para estudos polínicos (colaboração com a universidade de Kiel)
First we started to drill for obtain cores for pollen studies (collaboration with Kiel university)

Em segundo, iniciámos em colaboração com Pedro Cura uma investigação experimental sobre as técnicas de abertura de fossos e sobre a relação tempo / pessoa nesse trabalho. O objectivo é estudar o comportamento das ferramentas usadas e ter uma base empírica para calcular o volume de trabalho/tempo/pessoa implicado na construção destas estruturas nos Perdigões.
Secondly, we initiated, in collaboration with Pedro Cura, an experimental research about the techniques of ditch opening and of the relation time / person to do that job. The goal is to study the behavior of the tools used and have an empirical base to calculate the volume of work/time/person implied in the construction of these structures in Perdigões.

0315 - Dia atarefado / Busy day

Esta semana será atarefada. Nos últimos dias tem aparecido muita coisa, tanto do ponto de vista artefactual como estrutural. E novas acções foram iniciadas. Vamos deixar os materiais para amanhã (punções, punhal, campaniforme, lâminas e pontas de seta, recipientes fragmentados in situ e pavimentos de cerâmica) e demos notícia de três outros aspectos.

This week will be busy. In the last days many things have been appearing, both materials and structures. And new actions have been initiated. Let's leave for tomorrow the materials (awls, dagger, bell beaker, blades and arrow heads, recipients fragmented in situ and pavements of shards) and talk about other three aspects.

O "henge" central está mais definido, "emergindo" na área mais a oeste e na área mais a Este.

The central "henge" is better defined, emerging in the east and west areas.

Na zona dos cremados as pedras de uma eventual estrutura continuam a afundar e entre elas aparecem agora ossos longos humanos não cremados.
In the area of the cremated remains the stones of an eventual structure continue to go deeper. Among them now appear non cremated human long bones.

E investigadores de Estugarda estão nos Perdigões a recolher amostras para estudos palinológicos numa colaboração com a universidade de Kiel.

And researchers from Stuttgart are in Perdigões to collect samples for palinological studies in a collaboration with Kiel University.

0314 - Falando do intencional / Talking about the intentional

Definitivamente este prato foi partido pela pedra que lhe caiu por cima. Mas vamos atrás. Este é um muro de uma estrutura (possivelmente de uma cabana circular idêntica às que se situam a cerca de 15 metros para norte), e não há duvida que foi intencionalmente construído.
Definitely, this dish was broken by the stone that fell on it. But let's go back. This is a wall of a structure (possibly a circular hut identical to the ones located 15m north), and there is no doubt that it was intentionally built. 

Esta estrtutura foi parcialmente desmontada ainda em época calcolítica. E isso foi igualmente intencional. Foi-lhe colocado um fim.
This structure was partially dismounted in Chalcolithic times. And that was equally intentional. An end was put to it.

E na extremidade do troço que restou foi colocado um prato. E o prato foi partido por uma pedra que lhe foi colocada/atirada para cima.
And in the extremity of the preserved section a plate was deposited. And the plate was broken by a stone placed/thrown over it.

Qual a probabilidade de o prato ter sido colocado por acaso no final de um muro desmontado (à volta do qual nada mais há de completo) e ter sido partido inadvertidamente por uma pedra? E qual a probabilidade de o prato ter sido ali intencionalmente depositado e a sua fragmentação (o seu fim) ser intencional e ser correlativa e relacionável com o desmonte e fim da estrutrura pétrea (também o seu fim)?
What are the odds of the plate being put there by chance in the end of a dismounted wall (arround which nothing complete appeared) and have been broken by accident by a stone? And what are the odds of an intentional deposition of the plate and of its intentional fragmentation (its end), and that this was correlative and relative to the dismount of the stone structure (also its end)?

0313 - Um novo campaniforme / A new beaker

Hoje apareceu mais um campaniforme, estilo marítimo, ao lado do anterior intensamente fragmentado.
Today another bell beaker, maritime style, appeared, just next to the previous one intensively fragmented.

E a apenas alguns centímetros de distância uma concentração de frutos (pera selvagem) carbonizados. Várias dezenas destes frutos já haviam sido registados numa fossa a alguns metros de distância.

And just a few centimeters there was a concentration of burned fruits (wild pear). Several tens of these fruits have already been collected at a nearby pit.

0312 - Metais e Campaniformes / Metals and Beakers

Um cinzel em cobre.

E o padrão de fragmentação do campaniforme com decoração "carica", Novamente, algum tipo de comportamento intencional pode ser discutido aqui.
And the fragmentation pattern of the "Bottle cap" decorated beaker. Again, some sort of intentional behavior could be argued here. 

0311 - Intencional ou acidental / Intencional or accidental

Um prato partido in situ por uma pedra que lhe "caiu" em cima.
A dish broken in situ by a stone that "fell" over it.

0310 - Denticulados / Denticulated

Apenas a 15cm da alabarda e do vaso troncocónico.
Just 15 cm away from the halberd and troncoconic vessel.

0309 - Novo estilo campaniforme / New bell Beaker Style

"Decoração carica". É o que se pode dizer deste campaniforme recolhido hoje nos Perdigões (a não ser que alguém conheça algo parecido). Contexto tardio, onde o campaniforme, pode dizer-se, já não era o que era. Liberdade para recrear.

"Bottle cap" decoration. This is what we might say about this bell beaker collected today at Perdigões (unless someone knows something similar). A late context, where the bell beakers, one may say, were not what they used to be. Freedom to recreate.

Num contexto associado a uma caçoila com decoração campaniforme pontilhado geométrico com preenchimento a pasta branca e a um trococónico.

In a context associated to a carenated bowl with beaker decoration (geometric combed with wight past) and a troncocoic vessel.

0307 - Os milagres existem / Miracles exist

Esta alabarda (ou punhal ?) foi poupada por milímetros pela afectação da surriba realizada nos Perdigões. Associada a um vaso aparentemente de perfil troncocónico, faz parte de uma deposição tardia nos Perdigões, onde também ocorrem denticulados de foice e campaniformes de estilo geométrico.

This halberd (dagger ?) was spared by millimeters by the deep plowing done in Perdigões. It was associated to a apparently troncoconic pot and integrates a late deposition in Perdigões, together with sickle elements and bell beakers with geometric decoration. 

0306 - De "costa a costa" / From "coast to coast"

Na área central encontram-se estruturas que cobrem toda a biografia dos Perdigões. Aqui vemos um fosso do final do Neolítico Médio a ir por baixo de depósitos do Calcolítico tardio.
In the central area there are structures that cover all the biography of Perdigões. Here is a late Middle Neolithic ditch going under late Chalcolithic deposits.

E aqui a grande estrutura pétra central do início da Idade do Bronze.
And here the central large stone structure from the initial Bronze Age.

0305 - Items ideológicos / Ideological items

Uma concha de Pecten maximus (Vieira). Sempre a valva convexa. Era a concha, não o molusco, que interessava.
One shell of Pecten maximus (scalop). Always the convex valve. It was the shell, not the mollusc, that mattered.

Um "ídolo" em osso da zona dos cremados: tatuagens faciais de um lado e cabelos do outro. Mais um.
Bone "idol" from the cremated remains area: facial tattoos in one side and hair in the other. One more.
