Next Monday the 2014 campaign of
archaeological excavations will start at Perdigões. We will be working in four
areas.
The Era-Nia team will continue the work in
sector Q and P and will initiate a new survey in Sector O. At Sector Q, the
excavation of pit 40 with the depositions of cremated remains will continue, as
well as pit 45, the one that had a burial of a dog.

At Sector P, the survey of Ditch 7, with
its moment of re-cutting and re-filling, will also continue, trying to establish
the global chronology, processes and rhythms of those fillings.

At Sector O, in the western part of the
enclosure, a new survey area will be opened in an area where the geophysics shows
a possible gate in Ditch 10. The goal is to confirm the presence of the gate
that, if exists, will be aligned with Gate 4 of the outside ditches (1 and 2).
Starting to establish its chronology is also an objective, contributing to the
construction of the global temporality of Perdigões.

Finally, in Sector L, the Málaga
University team, that collaborates in the Global Program of Archaeological
Research of Perdigões, will be removing and studying the
large stelae that was discovered in front of Gate 1. For this they will have
the collaboration of Primitiva Bueno and Rodrigo Balbin from the university of
Alcalá de Henares.
